Welcome to the Roman Era
This is so much fun! *squee moment*
Right, now that that's out of the way... A bit of babble on how I transitioned from the Neanderthal Era to the Roman Era before I completely forgot what I've already mostly forgotten @__@
The very first thing I did was sort out finances - the family with the highest fund amount (not lot value) became the Emperor family, and regardless of colour or relation to the Emperor family, the second highest earner became the first Patrician family, and the third highest became the second Patrician family. In order of finances I then sorted out the Plebeians and the Slaves basing it on the rules of - more slaves than plebeians, more plebeians than patricians, more patricians than Emperor. Also keeping in mind that at some point my slaves are going to get slaughtered (Roman times were brutal people, save your slaves!). From the starting round first family I had 13 families; that's one Emperor, two Patricians, five Plebeians, and five Slaves - the extra Plebeian family is because of an anomaly I will go into when that particular family comes up ^__^ I don't want to spoil the surprise of which family ended up in which class (because there are a few surprises!). On that note - I've played two families and one has split up already leaving me with six Slave families - oh the drama of the Roman Era...
The transition was EPIC - relocating 13 families into 13 new lots is not as simple as it may seem. Although I had templates for each particular lot; for eg, a Patrician house for the Patricians, etc, each house then has to be filled with furniture. Now if you want every house exactly the same - that's your perogative! Personally, with so many houses the same, I like to change the innards up a bit per family, which makes for a loooong transition phase - 3 days! Can you imagine what that will be like next Era with.....*can't even contemplate how many families there will be by then* back to the Roman Era for a bit then...
...okay if I've done anything else now I've already forgotten =_= felt like I had a lot to say *babbler* anyway! Seasons have been set to Summer-Spring-Autumn-Summer in a bid to be mediterranean we're foregoing Winter, also I don't have any CC for that *the horror*! Speaking of CC, I have very little Roman-esque stuff therefore I have gone with particular "sets" or "items" of clothing per social class. It may not fit with the Roman times (we're going for ecclectic here, go easy!) but hopefully after a few rounds you should all be as used to which class belongs to which clothing set as I...might...be....>_> or we'll all be confused together - hoorah!
I foresee this round taking a very long time, or perhaps just the starting family of each social class, either way for the moment we have some serious drama happening so, on with the show!

And the rest
That was a story and a half huh! Did I mention this was so much fun?! (just a few times already). It's amazing how such simple things like bathing, cooking, dining at a table, painting, etc are just suddenly so interesting! I'm in awe. As they moved house the seasons seemed to have reset for them so they started on the last day of summer, which makes six days for the first round - I'm pretty certain it still would have been long though, took me about four hours to play. The clothing is mostly original maxis stuff, some are from extras packs that I can't remember the name of just now, I think Frieda's dress is H&M =/ don't quote me, I chose it because it's similar enough to a simple Roman frock for ME; as you can see with the twin girls Heidi and Hilda - their frocks are Roman design from parsmonious (I think) CC either way, I have similar ones for teenage girls but I'm saving that for the Emperor family as although Patricians are upper class, I want the Emperor family to really stand out as wealthy more so than the Pats. I have NO CC for the boys so they are stuck with the Bon Voyage pack kimono, which is no doubt going to be very weird for Anna (and anyone else) who's been using them for the Neanderthal Era. LoL. And the elders unfortunately get nothing - Gisa is wearing a CC Victorian style dress because the game stuff is just too far beyond my comprehension for an elderly Roman matriarch, and poor old Aurel is even worse off in just winter gear =/. I've forgotten already what the boys were in as kids - I think it's the CC Victorian style gym wear, just to be different - that was from...that place I forgot the name of >_> oops, *not mine, sorry*.
As for the lack of Generation 4 in this round - Benedikt and Isolde were matched from practically birth and it's turned out well, without too much effort they grew up as friends and so it was easy to evolve into romance. The Patricians are doing it with class and there is just NO honky tonking before marriage - not for good girls and boys! *stern look* therefore, they have to wait to start their family - not that they're married yet, just engaged, I have to see if Frieda gets taken away first and if not then debate about sending Wiebe on his way early, that or wait about 3 more rounds to start a family @__@. Talking about Wiebe - he was walking along when Kristin stopped him to talk and I swear to you those pictures were all THEM, I just sat and watched - gobsmacked mind you - as Wiebe decided to heck with his betrothal to Anja Rosenberg, he was just going to flirt with the beautiful Plebeian Kristin and to heck with what I thought! *humph* fine then, have it your way!
I can't remember anything else I may have had to say now =/ any questions just leave a comment in the box - don't forget to check out the Patrician house - under collections and Roman Buildings, the design is based on a layout under one of the links at the bottom of the same page.
Up next - the Faulkner2 family - what have they become I wonder? ^__^
